Vision
The 11th group in the Kenya Care program is Vision Self Help Group. They started the lessons with 33 members beginning of March 2021. They really liked the lessons. Nowadays we also invite a representative from the Ministry of Gender to come and teach the group how to organize themselves officially. A Self-Help group is officially registered in Kenya and must meet many conditions. On the other hand, the groups can later also benefit from certain benefits, including interest-free loans or grants.
The group celebrated the completion of the first phase with a great event in June, where 31 members received their certificate. At this day the women presented with songs, dance, a poem, and with a game of Questions-and-Answers what they have learned about HIV/Aids during the lessons. For the first time we also invited family members to come to this celebration. The members had requested this, and we think it helps a lot to lower the stigma in the families.
The women have now started to prepare their business proposals so that they will apply for a microfinance very soon.
